The Worm Ambulance and the End

When I was eight I operated my own worm ambulance service. After every big rainstorm I used to take my brother's skateboard and my plastic bucket and shovel set and skate up and down our street saving rain-drenched worms from untimely deaths. If a worm had been partially smashed by a car I would cut his damaged piece away and toss the rest of him in the bucket with his friends. In a half hour I would have an incredible collection of rescued worms!

When I was finished I would dump all of the worms out into what I believed was my garden. It was just a small patch of dirt in which I grew only carrots since no other vegetable was worth eating at that time.

I still save drowning worms — only now I'm more discreet about it. And it's still extremely satisfying work. As the worm ambulance, I skated around with so much energy and determination. I really believed in what I was doing and I knew that I was just the right person for the job. I hadn't felt that way about anything since then — until I began The Lost Soul Companion. Focusing my energy on helping other Lost Souls was the best thing I've done in a long time.

I've learned that Lost Souls who feel driven to do something constructive and good will succeed sooner or later.
