Jacqui's Snacky Ideas for the Culinarily Impaired
The following snack recipes are easy, require no cooking, induce happiness, and inspire one to consume some calories.
Fairy BreadI grew up partly in Austrailia and, there, no self-respecting kid would consider having a party without this childhood staple. It's simple: you spread a slice of any kind of bread with butter/margarine and sprinkle with those little multi-colored cake sprinkles for decorating cakes. The colorfulness and mild, crunchy sweetness are not to be underestimated, I find. It's traditional to cut the bread into lovely, magical triangles before consuming.
By the way, when I went to Holland, I found out the Dutch people eat this for breakfast every day and have special sprinkles in yummy flavors like green apple, chocolate or even anise just for this purpose. It explains a lot about the Dutch!
The Chocolate Cheesecake Swirl (Openfaced) SandwichSpread bread (preferably whole wheat for its nutritional value and its resemblance to cheesecake crust) with cream cheese. Swirl as much (or as little) chocolate-hazelnut spread (you know, like Nutella or another brand) as you like and consume.
